Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995

Schedule 1 Chapter V: All food handlers must be supervised/instructed or trained in food hygiene matters to a level appropriate to their job.

Awareness of substance misuse is, therefore, essential for anyone who works with young people. Every child or young person is an individual and will develop skills in their own way, and in their own time. Play, for children, isn’t just recreation – it’s their approach to life! Every action is undertaken with the whole being: mind, body, and spirit. Play is basic to children’s wellbeing; it’s their way to discover the world around them, express themselves, and sometimes, cope with difficulty. Because of this, children’s play must be respected. This short course looks at how children play, and how adults can interact with and support them.

• Protecting children and young people from violent extremism is an emerging issue for anyone working with them. This course uses case studies and examples to aid understanding of how a child or young person may be drawn in to terrorism, and further explores some of the ways in which some people can manipulate individuals to commit, or support, criminal behaviour.

Observation sheets and support are provided for a manager or appropriate member of staff to sign off the practical part of the course, this is completed by observing learners putting their knowledge into practice in the work environment.

Once learners have completed the knowledge part of the course on Laser® and been signed off as competent by their manager or appropriate member of staff, they will then have achieved the full Care Certificate. On successful completion learners will be directed to download their certificate from the Skills for Care website.

How long does the course take to complete?

Our Care Certificate course can be completed by learners and organisations in their own schedule and in their own time, studying the knowledge online at home or at work.

The Mental Capacity Act of 2005 was written to protect and restore power to vulnerable people who lack capacity, and to empower those in health and social care to assess capacity themselves. Sarah Bellairs is co-founder  and Director of The International Education Group (TiEGr) providing bespoke services to the international and UK vocational education sector.

Before starting TiEGr, Sarah was the International Partnership Development Manager at CACHE, (now NCFE) a UK regulated awarding organisation. At CACHE Sarah worked with education providers internationally to set up training centres in the Middle East, S.E. Sarah has organised, attended and spoken at a range of education conferences in the Middle East, Malaysia and the UK and has travelled extensively in these areas.

Sarah has 25 years experience in the education sector including project management and development, programme and resource development, project tendering and reporting, teaching, assessing and external quality assurance.

Prior to CACHE, Sarah’s previous international experience has included working with youth education projects in France and Romania, as well as working with the British Council on a community development project in Indonesia.
