1. Environmental Policy
The International Education Group (TiEGr) is committed to minimising our environmental impact and promoting sustainability throughout our operations. We recognise our responsibility to reduce our environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.
1.1. Key Commitments:
- Operate a blended delivery model for our training programmes, reducing travel-related emissions.
- Employ a local delivery workforce where possible to minimise transport emissions.
- Adopt a digital-first approach, reducing reliance on printed materials.
- Encourage sustainable practices among learners, including waste reduction and energy efficiency.
- Monitor and review environmental performance regularly.
- Expect our supply chain to operate in line with responsible environmental standards.
- Target a minimum of 40% of supply chain spend with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), in line with UK Government SME spend targets.
- Encourage remote working for staff where feasible to reduce commuting emissions.
- Utilise purpose-designed, local meeting spaces to minimise travel.
- Deliver 100% of CPD training courses online to eliminate travel emissions.
- Hold 95% of internal business meetings via Zoom or other video conferencing platforms to reduce unnecessary travel.
1.2. Policy Implementation:
This policy is reviewed annually. Our team is trained to embed sustainability into daily operations. Environmental considerations are factored into decision-making processes, procurement, and partnerships.
2. Carbon Reduction Plan
We have set a target to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2035. Our approach is practical, measurable, and embedded into the way we operate.
2.1. Actions to Date:
- 60% of programme delivery transitioned to online to reduce travel emissions.
- Local delivery staff model established to minimise transport impact.
- Digital-first policy implemented to reduce resource use.
- Remote working practices adopted to reduce commuter emissions.
- CPD training delivered entirely online.
- 95% of business meetings conducted via video conferencing.
2.2. Future Actions:
- Conduct an annual review of carbon emissions associated with service delivery.
- Explore partnerships for verified carbon offsetting for any unavoidable emissions.
- Work with suppliers to minimise environmental impact across the supply chain.
- Enhance learner awareness of environmental best practices.
2.3. Monitoring and Reporting:
We will monitor progress towards Net Zero, report annually on emissions reductions, and adjust our action plan to ensure targets are met.
3. Alignment to Government Policy
This policy and plan align with key UK Government initiatives and guidance, including:
- The UK Government’s Net Zero Strategy (October 2021).
- The Procurement Policy Note (PPN 06/21) on ‘Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans in Major Government Contracts’.
- The UK Government target for at least 33% of public sector supply chain spend to be directed towards SMEs, which we exceed with a target of 40%.
